PLEASANTVILLE, NEW YORK – The Pace University
Athletics Department is pleased to announce that a new
athletics logo is ready to grace team uniforms and
apparel, publications, signage and the athletics
department webpage.
Pace’s athletics teams are called the Setters and the
new look incorporates the mascot into the main logo. A
Setter dog in the school’s colors of navy and yellow
gold is shown jumping over the word Pace in white on a
blue background with the word Athletics in small yellow
type below. The word PACE, is marked with a small arched
notch in the upper left side of each letter, which
slightly incorporates the institutional logo that
contains a large swoosh.
Pace Director of Athletics Joseph O’Donnell is
excited about the new look. “We are looking forward to
presenting this new identity to the public. The
student-athletes are excited about the new look that
emits determination, strength and power,” O’Donnell
said.
Greg Malek, owner of a small design company called
Unlike Designs, designed the logo and the various
stylish wordmarks that are packaged with it. Malek was a
Pace University baseball player from 1993-97.
“I’m glad I could give something back to the
university where I received my education,” Malek said,
adding, “I saw a need and we were able to make it work.
This is a sporty, stylish look that adds an identity to
the athletics department.”
“This comes at an exciting time within the university
where we are celebrating many changes and
accomplishments,” O’Donnell said, referring to the
university’s upcoming year-long Centennial celebration
that will commence in late 2005 and culminate in 2006.
The new logo will be used only by the athletics
department and will be phased in and will be present on
uniforms beginning with football and women’s soccer
during the upcoming fall 2005 seasons; the Goldstein
Fitness Center arena floor; athletics publications; and
various signage throughout the athletics facilities.
