BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – The Birmingham Steeldogs are getting a makeover.
With just over a week remaining until the team’s
first game versus the San Diego Riptide, the Steeldogs
Front Office is giving fans a sneak peak at the team’s
new threads.
“We feel that it is time to update our uniform
design,” said Scott Myers, the Steeldogs managing
partner. “This is just one of the many positive changes
that we have in store for our fans and sponsors for
2005.”
Both the home and away jerseys will feature a swath
of orange along the shoulder pad area with the player’s
number positioned along the top of the pads in black,
trimmed in white. The Steeldogs logo is located on both
sleeves.
The home jersey is black through the midsection with
white piping running from top to bottom, joining across
the top of the chest. The numerals are orange trimmed in
white. “Steeldogs” is printed across the chest.
The road jerseys are white through the midsection
with black piping running under the collar and down the
sides. The player’s number is orange, trimmed in white,
and “Birmingham” is printed across the top of the chest.
The players will wear solid black pants at home and
solid white pants on the road.
The Steeldogs’ home and away uniforms have been
standard throughout the past five years. With the
exception of a few numeral color shifts, as well as a
handful of piping experiments, the 2005 uniforms mark
the first overall fresh look for the team since its
inception.
