BAKERSFIELD, CA-- The Bakersfield Blaze Baseball Club, Class A California League Affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced an exciting new look tonight at the Holiday Inn Select in Downtown Bakersfield. The Blaze unveiled new primary and secondary club logos as well as new uniforms. The evening was also highlighted by a keynote presentation from Texas Rangers General Manager John Hart. This is the first time the Blaze look has been updated since the team began using the Blaze moniker going into the 1995 season. "The old look has served the organization well through two different Major League affiliations over more than a decade" said Blaze General Manager Chris Freshour "We just felt that with all the changes we are making to better the organization it was time for a bold new look that better represented the direction we are moving in."

Bold is definitely an apt term to describe the new club logos. The primary logo features the word BLAZE in Black capital letters in a font-style all their own. The black letters are outlined in bright yellow and red. In addition to serving as the primary club mark this logo will also be emblazoned across the front of the home and road uniform jerseys this season.

Bakersfield Blaze - Primary Logo

The secondary Blaze logo is unlike anything else in professional sports. It will be featured predominately on the on field caps this season. Meant to represent the "flashpoint" of an explosion it features flames shooting out in five directions behind a unique pair of B's. The two black B's are arranged back to back to give the illusion of a mirror image of one another. The flames are bright orange (a new team color featured heavily on the Blaze new road uniforms) red and yellow. The primary logo has been modified to include the word's Bakersfield and Professional Baseball for use on club letterhead etc on the local level.

The new logos are the brainchild of former Blaze co-general manager, and current GM of the Lake Elsinore Storm, Dave Oster and were designed by Storm graphic artist Mark Beskid. These two men are currently responsible for the best selling logo in Minor League Baseball, Lake Elsinore's "Eyes of the Storm". "We wanted to come up with something that would make a splash on a national level in addition to within the Bakersfield area, similar to what we have seen with the Storm eyes" explained Oster, "We have really seen the 'action sports' genre explode over the last few years and feel that this new Blaze look really fits that niche."
