RB3, LLC. is pleased to announce that its application for relocation to the Greenville territory has been approved by Minor League Baseball. The Capital City Bombers will relocate immediately to Greenville for the 2005 season and play in Municipal Stadium while the team finalizes plans to play in a new downtown facility in the city of Greenville's West End District for the 2006 season.

The Greenville Bombers will have business offices established at Municipal Stadium early next week.

Team President Rich Mozingo is excited about the opportunities that exist in the upstate.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to keep baseball in the Upstate," Mozingo said. "Greenville has a rich baseball history and we are looking forward to becoming part of the Upstate community for years to come"

The Bombers are the Class-A affiliate of the World Champion Boston Red Sox and will compete in the 16-team South Atlantic League; 42.5% of Major League Baseball's players in 2003 competed in the SAL during their rise to the Major Leagues. The Bombers home opener is in 63 days on April 14 against the Charleston (SC) RiverDogs (New York Yankees).

"Having the World Champions as your parent club is very exciting and getting an opportunity to see part of that Red Sox / Yankees rivalry should be fun for years to come," Mozingo said of the Bombers' new affiliation. "The South Atlantic League has a storied history of producing some of baseball's great talents and we are excited to put that on display in Greenville."

The Bombers will play the 2005 season in Municipal Stadium while construction begins on a brand-new stadium to be completed in time for the 2006 season. The new stadium will be the centerpiece of the revitalization of Greenville's West End District which will also include retail shops, restaurants and condominiums.
