More
than 10,000 new fans of the Hamburg Sea Devils voted to
choose the Devils’ head logo, which the NFL Europe
League designed in New York, as the logo for the
league’s newest franchise.
The Hamburg Sea Devils put the selection of the new
logo into the hands of their fans. The Devil’s head logo
was picked from three choices offered to fans through
the Bild Zeitung newspaper: a trident, the blazon of
Hamburg and the devils’ head. Their choice will now
appear on the team’s helmet and jersey.
Kathrin Platz, deputy general manager of the Hamburg
Sea Devils, was satisfied: “I’m impressed how excited
people in the northern part of Germany brought the name
‘Sea Devils’ to life. The choice of the Devils’ head
shows that the Sea Devils will spread fear among the
other teams in NFL Europe when we kick off our first
season.”
More than 50% of the participants who voted via
e-mail, fax or telephone, chose the Devils’ head.
From the 10,000 who voted, one lucky winner, Florian
Sander from Hamburg, won a trip to the Super Bowl in
Jacksonville, Florida, which includes two tickets to the
game, the flight, hotel and spending money.
