Football Unveils New adidas Uniforms
ORLANDO
- Senior tailback Alex Haynes and senior strong safety
Atari Bigby modeled UCF’s new uniforms to the Orlando
media Wednesday at the Wayne Densch Sports Center. The
new uniforms, made by adidas, feature a new, modern look
as the Golden Knights open their first season under head
coach George O’Leary Sept. 4 at Wisconsin on ESPN.
The new design is the first significant design change
since 1996. From 1996 until 2003, UCF donned black
jerseys with gold pants at home and white jerseys with
gold pants on the road. UCF also wore black shoes with
the uniforms.
“I have made it very clear to the players it is more
important what is inside the uniform than the uniform
itself, and they understand that,” stated UCF head coach
George O’Leary.
“One
of the first changes is that all of the jerseys are
sleeveless and are custom fit to each athlete,”
commented UCF equipment coordinator Robert Jones. “The
whole outlook of the uniform is totally different.”
The new uniforms feature black jerseys and gold pants
for home games and an all-white uniform on the road.
UCF’s players will also now wear white shoes with both
sets of uniforms.
“I think it’s important for a new coach to come to a
program and determine a new look,” added Bigby. “I like
the uniforms, especially with the all-white look on the
road,” Bigby continued.
“I think we have a lot of style and it’s a great new
look for the program,” said Haynes.
Replica jerseys will be available for sale on
