Corpus Christi Rayz Unveil New Logo

Corpus Christi RayzCorpus Christi, Texas – With on and off the ice personnel moves throughout the off-season, a new building to play in, and a promotional campaign never before seen in professional sports, the Corpus Christi Rayz hockey team has taken on a new look this year. Monday afternoon that new look took on a literal meaning as Rayz General Manager/Senior Vice President Larry Linde announced a new team logo for the upcoming season.

In October, Corpus Christi will begin their second complete season with the team name, “Rayz” and the team kept the theme from the previous logo, changing the text and the picture. The new emblem keeps the red, white and blue color scheme and has a sting ray colored as the Texas state flag. The Rayz announced that the team will be wearing new game sweaters this season, and they will be releasing them to the public later in the summer.

“Along with so many other changes taking place recently, this logo change signifies that the Rayz will be doing things a little differently, while still appealing to what everyone in Corpus Christi has loved for six seasons,” said Linde.

Earlier this off-season, the Rayz made headlines by moving into the new AmericanBank Center. They have signed several key players for the upcoming season, who were elsewhere last year, including the 2004 CHL’s Most Outstanding Defenseman, Bernie John and former University of Michigan goaltender, Josh Blackburn.

Promotionally, the Rayz have done things differently this summer as well, announcing their “Rayz Rewards” plan, which gives season ticket holders a free opportunity to win many Corpus Christi Rayz prizes, including a chance to play in an actual Rayz game. They also brought in the leadership changes of Head Coach Ken McRae, as well as Linde, who were both elsewhere in the CHL last season.

The Corpus Christi Rayz are currently in preparation for their seventh professional hockey season in Corpus Christi and inaugural year at the AmericanBank Center. Their first home game will be the first event ever in the new state-of-the-art building on November 5th, against the President’s Cup Champion, Laredo Bucks. Make plans to be a part of all the excitement. Season tickets and corporate packages are currently available.
