Unveil Name, Logo
The
Québec franchise owners of the World Hockey Association
announced today the name and logo of their team which
will take to the ice for the 2004-05 season.
“We asked all Québec hockey fans for their opinion on
a team name which they could best associate with”
commented Jean-Paul Boily, president of the franchise.
“Several names were discussed yet from the start one
seemed to come up most frequently.”
“This preference clearly showed us that the numerous
hockey fans had not forgotten their initial feelings for
a team that always maintained a strong place in their
hearts."
“Such sentiment clearly left us with no other choice
but to name our team the Nordiks."
The new team's logo, was created by Québec graphic
designer Alain Roberge. It represents a likeable bear
that shows as much friendliness as aggressiveness to
achieve his goal. The white bear represents force,
robustness, and perseverance in our wintry climate.
A blue circle surrounds the logo with the line
forming the name "Nordics ", the letter "Q" represents
Québec, while the letter "o" in "Nordiks" is in the form
of a puck.
As well the Québec Nordiks also announced today the
members of their administration.
Mr. Jean-Paul Boily, lawyer, lobbyist, and president
of the VVC Exploration, was named club president.
