Manhattanville College Unveils New Athletic Logos

Manhattanville's New Look

Manhattanville CollegeApril 16, 2004 - Manhattanville College unveiled its new athletic logos today on its athletic website at www.govaliants.com. The logos are part of a professional, sleek, unified image for the athletic department, will be featured on athletic uniforms, merchandise, letterhead and facilities.

“We’ve always known what a ‘Valiant’ is, but we’ve never said it,” Director of Athletics Keith Levinthal said. “We took it to our Student Athlete Advisory Committee and they came up with the idea for a knight. From there we went forward to give Manhattanville Athletics a clear vision of the future.”

The new primary logo features a profile of a knight wearing a red and black cloak. The logo is pictured over a new Manhattanville word mark with the color scheme changing to a PMS 201 for the red, PMS 429 for the silver, black and white.

The word mark on the primary logo was designed so that each athletic team or athletic support group can be listed on a banner in the word mark. All of the athletic teams will use the new word marks.

The rebranding campaign is a first for Manhattanville Athletics. The college will also employ a new, sleeker designed “M” and “Mville” marks to be used for sports specific purposes.

The Joe Bosack Graphic Design Company of Pipersville, Penn., (www.joebosack.com) created the new look for Manhattanville Athletics. Other Bosack Design clients include the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, Cornell University, Fila and AND1.

“Having a unique nickname like ‘Valiants’ to work with made it an exciting project from the get go,” said Joe Bosack. “We were able to explore multiple representations of a Valiant before settling into the knight theme. Once this direction was established, we set our sights on creating a visual representation as unique as the nickname itself.”

The athletic department in conjunction with Infinity Pro Sports has redesigned the masthead on its website (www.govaliants.com) to be consistent with the new logos. The website will feature online sales of the new logo merchandise beginning next week.
