Memphis RiverKings to Unveil New Alternate
Jersey
SOUTHAVEN, Miss.—The RiverKings’ alternate jersey
will be unveiled at its Wednesday, Dec. 31st New Year’s
Eve game against the Indianapolis Ice at a special 6:05
p.m. start.
This jersey features a new logo set against a clean,
smooth, New-Millennium look. There’s a new monogram on
the shoulder that is a spin-off of the logo of the
RiverKings’ parent company, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“The main logo is a new take on the traditional
turtle logo,” Director of Community Relations Michael
Rice said. “The turtle is showing even more fierceness.
The fans should really like it.”
The jersey will be worn for the team’s next seven
home games and then intermittently throughout the rest
of the season. Replicas of the new alternate jersey will
be available at the merchandise stand at Wednesday’s
game.
There will be no jersey auction on New Year’s Eve,
breaking a two-year RiverKings tradition. The next
special jersey auction will be Jan. 23, which is NASCAR
night with the RiverKings. The ‘Kings will be wearing
commemorative racing jerseys.
