LOS
ANGELES – The Mavericks will unveil new, shimmery,
silver uniforms Tuesday night in the season opener
against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The new look marks the first time in franchise
history that the team has had an alternate road uniform,
which will be used at several more games throughout the
season.
"The idea of the second road uniform is to add a
slight edge to our current look," owner Mark Cuban said.
The uniform includes much of the same look of the
jersey and shorts that were revamped in 2001. The color,
however, is strikingly different from the deep blue that
the Mavericks have been wearing on the road.
The Mavs' secondary logo featuring an "M" and
basketball over a shield is featured on each side of the
shorts and says "Mavericks" across the chest, rather
than the previous jerseys which read "Dallas."
Replica versions of the new uniform are available at
the Mavs' fan shops at American Airlines Center and
authentic versions will be available in the near future,
team officials said.
