Stampede Unveils Logo
San Angelo's newest pro sports team has its logo.
Intense
Football League commissioner Chad Dittman unveiled the
burgundy, gold and black logo at a press conference at
Fuentes Cafe Wednesday and also took the opportunity to
present a gift basket to Goodfellow Air Force Base for
its upcoming golf tournament.
''There are a lot of reasons we picked the name
'Stampede,' and one of them was we felt it made for a
pretty fierce logo,'' Dittman said.
The team has been busy in the past few weeks, as it
has launched a website (www.sanangelostampede.com),
a season-ticket drive and begun the process of hiring a
staff. The league is in final negotiations to lease the
AlamoDome for a San Antonio franchise, which would join
San Angelo, Corpus Christi and Odessa. Lubbock is
expected to have a team, and the six-team league could
be rounded out by either Waco, El Paso or Amarillo
