Tri-City Americans Unveil New Logo and Uniforms

Tri-City AmericansKennewick, WA – The Tri-City Americans unveiled a whole, new look to the Mid-Columbia region today revealing a their new uniforms, colors and logos for the upcoming 2003-04 WHL campaign. The crest logo features an eagle carrying a hockey stick, while the shoulder patch proudly displays the word “Americans” boldly with three stars. The new logos were designed by Americans Director of Player Personnel Darrell May who spent many years serving professionally as a graphic artist in Edmonton, Alberta.

“The new logo was designed to respect the past history of the franchise, while strongly focusing on the future,” said May.

“The swooping eagle was designed to portray the speed and intensity of the sport of hockey and to reflect the pride and spirit of the Tri-City Americans. The logo also pays tribute to the eagle’s symbolism and its place in franchise history,” explained May.

Fans will also find the bold lines of the design features three stripes, symbolic of the stripes on the American flag and representing each of the Tri-Cities of Kennewick, Pasco and Richland, Washington. That theme is also continued on the shoulder patch with three stars and stripes, each proudly representing each city.

The colors will be white, with blue, red and trimmed in silver at home. Road will be blue, with white, red and trimmed in silver.

“This completes our complete re-branding of the franchise,” commented Americans president Darryl Porter. “With the adjustments we have made to our staff and the introduction of a whole, new look during the off season, this should be a significant signal to our fans of our commitment to give them a product everyone can be proud of and support.” The Americans new look will debut on opening night, Saturday, September 20th, 5:05 pm in the Tri-Cities Coliseum.
