California Baptist U. Unveils New Logo, Colors
RIVERSIDE,
Calif. (Thursday, August 14, 2003) – California Baptist
University is introducing a new graphic identity to
coincide with a number of exciting changes taking place
at the Riverside institution, including dramatic campus
involvements highlighted by the new 94,800-square-foot
Yeager Center, which houses classrooms, a dining commons
and administration offices.
The new blue and gold CBU logo features a stylized
tower situated in an arch representing the Mission
Revival architecture that dominates the 82-acre campus.
Additionally, the Lancer athletic logo (above) also has
taken on a more dynamic look. The updated athletics logo
features a white Christian cross that is integrated
within the design featuring a Lancer’s helmet, shield
and lance.
“We’re not changing the Lancer itself, but just
modernizing it,” CBU Athletic Director Doug Huckaby
said. “The reaction I’ve gotten from coaches and
athletes has been extremely positive. That validates
that it was time for a change.”
President Ronald L. Ellis and the CBU Executive
Council approved the new colors and logos based on
designs developed by David Riley Associates, a graphic
design and advertising firm located in Newport Beach,
Calif.
At least half of the CBU athletic squads are expected
to utilize the new colors and logo this school year,
with the others incorporating the designs as soon as it
is practical.
Also, a new redesign for the athletics website (www.calbaptist.edu/sports)
will be unveiled on Friday (August 15). The website is
evolving to feature the new logo and colors, as well as
adding additional content.
