HIDALGO,
TX: July 17, 2003 – The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of
the Central Hockey League displayed their inaugural home
and road jerseys this afternoon at a news conference
held at Hidalgo City Hall.
“Each step we have completed, from naming our head
coach to announcing a player signing, has built more and
more of an identity of the Killer Bees, and today we
take another step in developing a visual identity by
revealing our team uniforms,” said Killer Bees President
/ General Manager Trey Medlock .
“Our color scheme is unique to hockey, so our jerseys
bring a new look to the game and to the Valley.”
The home jersey is white, with Killer Bee Teal
shoulders and bottoms trimmed with gold and black
stripes, while the road jerseys are black with Killer
Bee Teal shoulders and bottoms trimmed with gold and
white stripes. Both jerseys display the Killer Bees logo
on the chest, the secondary logos on the shoulder, and
the CHL logo on the rear bottom trim. The secondary logo
consists of the sun with two palm trees and the initials
“KB.” SP Apparel, based out of Granby, Quebec, produced
the jerseys.
Under CHL uniform policy, unless granted special
permission, teams wear their home (lighter colored
jerseys) jerseys at home and road jerseys (darker
jerseys) on the road until the CHL All-Star Game and
then they switch and wear the lighter jerseys on the
road and the darker jerseys at home for the remainder of
the regular season. The Killer Bees will also have a
select number of specialty jersey nights at home games.
On those nights, the team will wear altered jerseys in
relation to a special event. For example, the Killer
Bees will wear a special Christmas style jersey close to
Christmas. Player jerseys will also be auctioned off for
fans after the game on specialty jersey nights.
If you would like to arrange an interview with Trey
Medlock, in regards to the jerseys, he will be available
at the Killer Bees office. The Killer Bees will drop the
puck for their inaugural season on October 31st at 7:30
PM as they will host the Corpus Christi Rayz inside the
state-of-the-art Rio Grande Valley Events Center. Season
tickets and corporate opportunities are available by
calling the Killer Bees office at (956) 843-7825. For
