Expansion Team to Unveil Name, Logo
Basketball Street Festival to Feature Live

The Charlotte NBA expansion franchise will unveil its
new team name, colors and logo and host a basketball
street festival for fans at Trade and Tryon Streets in
Uptown Charlotte on June 11. The team name will be
chosen from one of three finalists the franchise
announced last month – Charlotte Bobcats, Charlotte
Dragons, Charlotte Flight.
The NBA Charlotte naming process began nearly six
months ago when the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission
collected over 1,250 team name suggestions from
Charlotte-area residents. After a series of local focus
groups, the team, which will play its inaugural campaign
in the 2004-2005 season, announced the finalists and
welcomed fan feedback.
