Atlanta Falcons
Unveil New Logo
The
Atlanta Falcons today announced a redesign of the team’s
logo at a press conference that included chairman,
president and CEO Arthur Blank, executive vice president
of marketing Dick Sullivan and head coach Dan Reeves.
“The new Atlanta Falcons logo is fresh, strong and
dynamic, and yet appreciates the tradition and history
of this franchise,” said Blank. “The new logo depicts a
more powerful, aggressive Falcon – one of fast movement.
It is also representative of the evolution and direction
of our team.”
The logo was designed in conjunction with NFL
Properties after a lengthy research process, which
included conducting focus groups and polls with many
fans. In addition, Falcons players, coaches and staff
had the opportunity to give their thoughts.
New team uniforms incorporating the revised Falcons
logo will be unveiled in mid-April.
As part of the new logo development and uniform
launch, Champs Sports, as the exclusive sports retailer
of the Atlanta Falcons, is a presenting partner for both
activities.
"Champs Sports is very excited about this partnership
with the Atlanta Falcons,” said Champs Sports vice
president of marketing Rubin Hanan. “This partnership
establishes Champs Sports as the destination for Atlanta
Falcons product and aligns us with one of the NFL's
hottest sports franchises."
Apparel containing the new logo will be available
beginning today at Champs Sports and other retailers
throughout the metro Atlanta area.
This is the first change to the Falcons logo since
the team was founded in 1966. The original logo was
designed by Wayland Moore Studios in Atlanta. The first
major switch to the team’s current uniforms occurred
prior to the 1990 season when the Falcons switched from
red helmets and jerseys to black.
