U. of Charleston Unveils New Football Insignia

The UC Football team today unveiled the insignia that will adorn their football helmets this coming fall. The insignia was designed by the football coaching staff and UC President Ed Welch.

The insignia will be placed on a maroon-flecked helmet. A vote by the university community helped decide the color of the helmet. The team has not yet released any information regarding the design of the uniform.

On November 19, 2002, President Welch announced the reinstatement of the school's football program at a news conference in Eddie King Gymnasium. The school's last football team left the playing field in 1956.
