Colorado Rapids Unveil New Uniforms

Colorado RapidsDenver (02-12-03) - The Colorado Rapids tonight unveiled the new Atletica uniforms and the colors the team will use in the 2003 Major League Soccer season. The event, labeled the 'Black and Blue Ball', was held at downtown Denver's Blue 67 Lounge and a full house gathered to get the first look at the Rapids' striped Black and Blue home uniforms, the all white away kits, and the all black third uniform. Also in display was the training gear that Atletica will provide as the new official uniform supplier for the 2003 season.

"We are very excited to be able to begin a partnership with Atletica for the 2003 season," Rapids General Manager Dan Counce said. "It was important for us to create a relationship with a well established sports apparel company as we launch our new look and new colors for the upcoming season."

Atletica, a Mexican-based sports apparel company made it's debut in Major League Soccer as an official uniform supplier in 2000 with the New England Revolution. It continued to establish its tradition in the American market in 2001 when it began its relationship with the Dallas Burn.

Headquartered in the city of Guadalajara, Atletica is the dominant sports apparel name in Mexico and throughout Central America and sponsors half of the top-level professional soccer clubs in Mexico. The recognized brand supplied the Mexican National Team during the 2002 World Cup.

"We are happy to be able to grow our relationship with Major League Soccer," Atletica Director of Sports Promotions Manuel Vigueras said. "It is very important for us to be able to associate our brand with a team such as the Colorado Rapids as we continue to increase our visibility in the United States markets."

Rapids 2003 individual game tickets are available to the public on Wednesday, February 19 at 10:00a.m. 2003 tickets prices are: $15 Touchline, $20 premium, $25 VIP, $35 club seats. Tickets may be obtained by telephone though Ticketmaster at (303) 830-TIXS, via the Rapids website, at all front range Ticketmaster locations including Foley's, Wherehouse Music and select Rite-Aid stores and without service fee at the INVESCO Field at Mile High Ticket Office (hours M-F 8:00-5:00)

The Rapids kick off the 2003 MLS season on Saturday April 12 against Landon Donovan and the San Jose Earthquakes at INVESCO Field at Mile High.
