Los Angeles Galaxy Unveil New Uniforms
PASADENA, CA (Wednesday, January 15, 2003) - The 2002
MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy will have a new look
in 2003, Galaxy VP/GM Doug Hamilton announced today.
With the 2003 MLS season marking the opening of The Home
Depot Center, the L.A. Galaxy will sport a gold home
jersey with forest green shorts and an all-white away
jersey with both featuring a new distinctive diagonal
sash.
“As our team gains increased national and
international appeal, our new color scheme and signature
sash will help brand us,” said Hamilton. “Both kits will
be ‘launched’ at marquee matches of nationally televised
audiences and sold out soccer specific facilities (April
5th - ABC - Columbus, June 7th - ESPN2 - The Home Depot
Center).”

As 2002 MLS Cup Champions, the Galaxy will also add a
single star to their new kits representing their first
championship, which will be located above the club’s
logo on the front of the jersey.
In order to establish a unique look and feel to the
uniform, the L.A. Galaxy overhauled its uniform
switching to diagonal Forest Green and Black (home) and
Forest Green and Gold (away) sash across the chest for a
unique international feel. In addition, the Galaxy will
shift shades of Green from Teal to Forest.
Los Angeles, whose uniforms have been supplied by
Nike since 1996, will be making the club’s fourth
uniform design change in the team’s history.
The Galaxy is scheduled to reconvene January 29, in
preparation for Spring Training and the upcoming 2003
season, which will open on April 5 vs. the Columbus Crew
at Crew Stadium. Following a league record eight-game
road trip, the Galaxy will open its new home The Home
Depot Center on Saturday, June 7 vs. the Colorado
Rapids.
