Central Hockey League - Corpus Christi Rayz
Corpus Christi to Change Name, Logo
Franchise Will Now Be Known as "Rayz"
Corpus Christi, TX - At a press conference today,
W.D. Frank, owner of WD Sports, the parent company of
the Corpus Christi Central Hockey League franchise,
announced that effective immediately the team has
adopted the nickname "Rayz" and will have a new visible
logo.
"From a business standpoint, we felt that it was in
the best interest of the organization to separate
ourselves from the past, and that includes both the name
and logo," said Frank. "We have to start here as a new
business."
The new logo is red, white, and blue bearing the name
"CORPUS CHRISTI RAYZ HOCKEY" with a stingray underneath
the word "RAYZ" decorated as the Texas state flag. The
logo combines the spirit of Rayz hockey with the pride
of Texas.
Frank indicated that for the time being, the team
will continue wearing the jerseys bearing the old logo,
and that there will be a gradual transition from the old
look to the new one.
The Rayz host the defending President Cup Champions
Memphis RiverKings this Friday at Memorial Coliseum at
7:05PM.
