Wilmington Blue Rocks Unveil New Logo, Uniforms

Wilmington Blue RocksWILMINGTON, DE – The Wilmington Blue Rocks unveiled a new look on Friday, December 6, 2002 at the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. The new look encompasses a set of new logos and uniforms effective immediately.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks introduced a new logo for the first time since their inception in 1993. The former Blue Rocks primary logo consisted of an interlocking “BR” lying on top of an outline of the state of Delaware. The new primary logo is a larger, more enhanced “BR” with a pick axe swinging through the middle of the logo.

For the first 10 seasons, the Wilmington Blue Rocks wore home uniforms consisting of the “Blue Rocks” (with a tail) scripted across the front. The new home uniform will have “Blue Rocks” scripted in a new font slanted in a triple-tackle twill consisting of royal blue letters with a white outline set on a midnight navy outline. The uniform will now have a royal blue soutache around the neck and down the front of the jersey as well as on the sleeves. The numbers on the front of the jersey will be in gold with a midnight navy outline, while the numbers on the back will be in royal blue with a white outline on top of a midnight navy outline.

The Blue Rocks new road uniform will consist of a gray body with royal blue sleeves. “WILMINGTON” will be arched across the chest in a royal blue full-block shadow. The block lettering lies on top of a white outline, with a midnight navy shadow. The jerseys feature a royal blue soutache around the neck and down the front. The numbers on the front are midnight navy with a royal blue shadow. On the back, the numbers are royal blue with a midnight navy outline shadow.

The home alternate jersey will consist of a black body with “Rocks” scripted in royal blue on top of a white outline. The numbers will be royal blue on both the front and the back and both sets of numbers will lie on top of a white outline. There is a royal blue soutache around the neck and down the front as well as around the sleeves.

The new home cap will feature a royal blue crown with a midnight navy bill, button and eyelets. On the front will be a script “BR” in white with a gray and midnight navy outline.

The road cap will have a midnight navy crown with a royal blue bill and button. On the front will be a script “BR” in gray with a white and royal blue outline.

The home alternate cap will be a solid midnight navy cap with the “BR pick-axe” logo on the front.

The batting practice cap will be a solid midnight navy mesh with the new Rock character on the front.

Special thanks to Lisa Harris of Orbit Integrated for designing the home and road cap logo as well as the script font used on the home and home alternate jerseys.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks open the 2003 season on Friday, April 4, hosting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Frawley Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
