Everett Silvertips Unveil Name, Logo
Everett, WA – November 21, 2002: The Everett Hockey
Team (EHT, Inc) President, Bill Yuill, unveiled today
the team’s name, logo and colors. The Silvertips name
was chosen out of 1,000 entries that the team received
from August 16th through September 6th during its “Name
The Team” Contest sponsored by Doug’s Used Car
Superstore, the Everett Herald, and KRKO Radio.
The Silvertip grizzly bear is considered one of the
fiercest animals in North America and is known to
inhabit the Pacific Northwest including the Cascade
Mountains. The winning suggestion came from Ms. Susan
Hawk of Marysville, WA.
The winning suggestions for the team colors came from
Mr. John Williams of Marysville and Mr. Jeffrey
McClimans of Everett.
The winners of the “Name The Team” contest will
receive two (2) season tickets to the Silvertips
Inaugural Season, an autographed hockey stick, name
recognition on a plaque at the Everett Event Center, and
special on-ice recognition prior to the inaugural home
game. The winners for the mascot name and the mascot
description will be announced at a later date.
Team merchandise will be available in early December
and will be sold exclusively at the team’s
administrative office.
The Everett Silvertips begin play in the WHL in the
fall of 2003. The team will play all of their home games
at the new Everett Event Center being built at the
corner of Hewitt and Broadway. Once completed the arena
will have a seating capacity of 8,250 fans for hockey
games.
