Toronto Blue Jays to Sport New Logo Next Year
By Geoff Baker,

The new look being brought to the Blue Jays isn't
stopping with just the players.
A change in team logos has been ordered for next
season and will see the Jays going with the so-called
"T" version they wore on caps in spring training. The
team's current logo, a Blue Jay superimposed on a maple
leaf, will be scrapped.
Jays president and CEO Paul Godfrey said yesterday
that the team had planned to announce the change in the
off-season.
Younger fans and several focus groups hired by the
team are said to have responded overwhelmingly in favour
of the "T" logo - which has a large letter "T" serving
as a backdrop to a Blue Jay holding a bat and flipping a
ball.
Jays senior vice-president (corporate development)
Rob Godfrey said the switch could foreshadow a complete
uniform overhaul.
"I think at some point, you're going to see a total
rebranding," Godfrey said of a possible uniform
overhaul.
The Jays already appear to be positioning themselves
to maximize such a cash intake. Merchandise with the new
"T" logo is almost impossible to find these days at the
SkyDome. That has led to speculation from employees
working with the club that the Jays want fans to buy
merchandise with the old logo now and then spend more
money next year on the new ones.
