San Bernardino Changes Nickname - Inland Empire
66ers
San Bernardino, CA--The San Bernardino Stampede have
officially announced the team name change and unveiled
the new logos and uniforms. The Class A Affiliate of the
Seattle Mariners will now be called the Inland Empire
66ers Baseball Club of San Bernardino. The66ers will
still call Arrowhead Credit Union Park its home field.
In addition, the organization announced a multi-year
signing of the 2003 season long presenting sponsor and
the new corporate partner will be Domino’s Pizza. The
presenting sponsor is believed to be the first in
California League history and one of only a handful in
all of Minor League Baseball. Domino’s Pizza will be
featured throughout the 2003 season in all media
campaigns and a corporate leader for further integrated
marketing partnerships with the team and ballpark.
Stampede President Dave Oldham, who took over
management of the franchise one year ago, said the new
66ers name is intended to take a three pronged marketing
approach on a local (San Bernardino), regional (Inland
Empire) and national level (Route 66). The name
represents not only the voice of the fans, but the
strengths of the community and its rich history.
