Sea Dogs Sign PDC With Red Sox

PORTLAND, MAINE - After nine-years as the Florida Marlins' Class AA affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs announced today that they have signed a Player Development Contract with the Boston Red Sox. The agreement runs through the 2004 season.

"This is a great day for baseball fans in Northern New England," said Charlie Eshbach, Sea Dogs President and General Manager. "The vast majority of Sea Dog fans are also Red Sox fans, so this is a terrific opportunity to blend the two together. It will be much easier for our fans to keep tabs on our alumni as they move up to the major leagues," he added.

The familiar teal that has adorned Sea Dogs' uniforms and much of Hadlock Field over the past nine years will give way to a new red, white and blue team color scheme.
