Washington Redskins Unveil New Retro Home
Uniforms
The Washington Redskins will wear new uniforms for
home games next season to commemorate their 70th
anniversary. The revamped uniforms include burgundy
helmets with a spear-and-feathers logo identical to the
helmets worn by the team between 1963 and 1969.
The new jerseys, in a deeper shade of burgundy, have
a thick gold stripe and two white stripes on each
shoulder with a spear-and-feathers logo. Players'
numbers are on the tops of the shoulder pads instead of
the sleeves.
"Redskins" appears in small type above numbers on the
front of the jersey, with a commemorative 70th
anniversary patch beneath the left shoulder. The pants
are deep gold, a change from this past season's white
pants. The pants have burgundy and white stripes down
the side, and have spear-and-feathers logos at the top
of the legs.
Road uniforms will remain unchanged: white jerseys
with burgundy pants, and helmets featuring the team's
Indian face logo.
The club plans to announce other commemorative
measures for its 70th season today.
